Korlec Emergency Lighting FAQ

Do you offer any guarantees?

Yes! All electrical work comes with a 12-month peace of mind workmanship warranty. If anything related to our installation needs attention within 12 months, we’ll return promptly to resolve it. All work is completed to Australian Standards and QLD electrical compliance requirements, so you can feel confident that when you need it, your emergency lighting will work exactly as it should.

In Queensland (and across Australia), emergency and exit lighting must be tested regularly to meet legal and safety requirements under the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standard AS/NZS 2293.2. While actual wording comes from the standards rather than a specific QLD Act, the practice is the same in QLD as elsewhere in Australia:

You need to have your emergency lighting inspected and tested at least every six months by a qualified person (typically a licensed electrician). This includes a 90-minute discharge test to confirm the lights and battery system will operate for the required duration in a power outage.

Additionally, as part of compliance you should:

  • Inspect and clean the fittings and reflective surfaces at least once every 12 months (alongside the six-monthly tests).

  • Keep records/logbooks of all tests and outcomes onsite, as part of your safety documentation.

These intervals (6-monthly and annual checks) are considered the minimum compliance requirements for emergency lighting in commercial and high-occupancy buildings.
